Stanton Watch - May 28th - Timeline Update
By: mbohn

Wow, it has already been 24 days since our
last
update on Mike Stanton. Since then,
Stanton
his a small slump, but busted out in a big way. His current numbers
are a massive 17 homers, 1.146 OPS, .306 AVG, 44 RBIs and 33 Runs.
Sure, he has also sports a 37:45 BB:K ratio, but with on OBP of .440 it
obviously has not been an issue in AA. The reason for today's update is
that we think we may know when he is getting the call.
According
to Joe Frisaro of The Fish Pond, he could make his debut on June
5th. He would start out batting in the seven hole, but if his power
translates to the Bigs that will not last long. Keep your eye on
Stanton and nab him as soon as he is available in your league. If that
is now, then nab him. Dude could be the next Ryan Braun, or
Evan
Longoria. Of course, he could also be the next
Mat
Gamel or
Matt
LaPorta. With prospects you never know for sure until they get
some time in the Bigs, but I would rather waste a bench spot for a few
weeks than pass up on a player with Stanton's upside.
